Percentage Based Layout Excitement!2/12/2005
When we first built this site, we were 100% in favor of using percentages to determine the layout dimensions for everything. As we got into the design, it became apparent, mostly because of the differences between IE, Firefox and other browsers that percentages weren't going to work for us. This made us sad, but we had to deal. This posting if proof that if there's a will, there is way! It's our pleasure to introduce a layout today that functions with percentage based layout! What does this mean??: It means regardless of your window size, screen resolution and for the majority of browsers VarsityDepot.com will look good and its layout will be optimized for the best viewing experience! Navigation Re-Engineered2/11/2005
![]() Above is a screenshot of the new nav layout Today we re-engineered the way navigation through the categories looks and feels. Before we had 2 list. On the left was a static list of all categories, and depending on what you clicked, the list on the right would find all the related sub categories. Now what happens is when you click on a category, the category is listed to let you know where you are then a box below shows all the related sub categories. I like it! But let us know what you think. Maybe there's something we can do to make it even better. Congratulating the New England Patriots with Signal Horns2/08/2005
As a New England based sporting goods company, we wanted to show some excitement for the Patriots Super Bowl win. Yesssss! As one of our customers pointed out, they wished they had one of these wonderful rechargeable signal horns. Unfortunately, none of us at Varsity Depot had any signal horns around either during the big win. This whole next year, we'll be sure to get a bunch of signal horns so all our sports enthusiasm during the spring and summer can be heard at 150PSI and beyond!
